Northern Music Company

Northern Music was formed in 1988 by Andy Farrow who began his involvement in the music business in the early 80′s by running a punk co-operative label called Apathy Products. Andy promoted CRASS in a benefit gig to get the operation going, inspired by the Punk attitude of anything is possible – DIY. After a stint running AMF music that promoted gigs, ran rehearsal rooms and booked bands, he eventually merged with Far North Music and soon became a management powerhouse in the North of England with a knowledge that spread across all aspects of the business and an understanding of the artist. Six acts were signed to
a variety of major and independent labels and the company acted as scouts for 8 record labels.

After 20 years in the business, Northern Music has had consistent success with predominantly rock orientated acts achieving over 20 Top 30 Album chart positions across Europe and sales in excess of 2 million. As the company’s reputation spread, new artists were taken on for management from Scandinavia and the US, further emphasizing the company’s international and long-term career building approach. They aim to develop long-term, international careers for their acts and fight against
the industry’s current short termism.

Dillon Music

Dillon Music was incorporated in 1992 and has quickly become one of the foremost leaders in the music industry, but the history of the company dates back a great deal further than 1992, and includes much history in the United States. The first musician in the Dillon Family can be documented back to the 1700s. William Dillon served in the Continental Army, with the 2nd VA Regiment from 1776 until 1779. William was a fifer in the Revolutionary War. William spent the winter at Valley Forge with General Washington and he was present at the Battle of the Brandywine, Stony Point and The Battle of Monmouth. Fifers, as well as drummers, were important figures and used as signalers in the Army. The Army was awakened to Reveille, called into formation by the playing of The Troop, and called to provisions by the playing of Roast Beef, etc. The fife and drum were the clock and the signals for the entire Army. When the Army marched, the drums and fifes played to keep step and when the Army was camped, the fifer would entertain the troops to keep up morale.

Quince Dillon, Great Grandson of William, was a fifer in both the Mexican War and American Civil War. Quince also was an accomplished fiddler. Quince’s unit, the 166th Virginia Militia, was eventually incorporated into the 59th Virginia Infantry, which along with other Confederate units, was captured at the Battle of Roanoke Island, North Carolina on February 8, 1862. As the story goes, the Yankee commander of the prison where Dillon was imprisoned held a fiddle contest. The prize was that the fiddler who played the best original composition would be set free. Quince Dillon played a song he composed on the spot and won the contest! Elbert Ebb Dillon, Great-Great-Great Grandson of William, along with his brother John and Uncle Quince, helped to influence the Fiddling of Henry Reed, the renowned country fiddler.

Steve Dillon, the Great-Great-Great-Great-Great-Great Grandson of William Dillon, has brought the Dillon music tradition forth into the 21st century. Steve began study of the trombone in the 4th grade and in high school he also studied the tuba. In college, he not only studied the trombone, but spent two years taking clarinet lessons.

Webbs, Wichita Lineman has been listed in MOJO Magazines worldwide survey of the best one hundred singles of all time in the top fifty, and was singled out in the Oct/Nov 2001 issue of Blender as The Greatest Song Ever.
