Frank Music Company was founded by Frank Marx in 1937 and has been serving New York’s classical music community ever since. Performers, teachers, and students rely on them because they maintain an unusually comprehensive inventory including instrumental, vocal, and chamber music of all European and American publishers. Their staff is small in number but mighty in knowledge, experience, and helpfulness.

Unlike online merchants who simply download publishers’ databases onto their sites, they feel it’s more honest and more helpful to their customers to list things they customarily keep in stock. Because the website is a work in progress, encourage you to get in touch and ask for pieces you don’t see listed; out of the 100,000 or so things they have, they’ve only managed to catalog 20,000 so far! Over time, they will continue to refine the details, add pieces they have on the shelves and list new publications as they receive them. For the extreme Luddites, there’s always the U.S. postal service! Of course, the greatest treat is always to come to the store in person.
